| Comments: Great website!!! Squadrons 617 and 619 I am looking for any members of these squadrons that remember my Uncle, Charles Smith Cook.He was often called "Chick" or because of his boxing, the "brown bomber". My father told me that that sometime between 1940-1943 there was a photo of Charlies' crew and Lancaster printed in an Edinburgh newspaper. They were standing in front of the plane along with the Lord Provost of Edinburgh.I would love to hear from anyone that has memories of my Uncle or any of the families of his fellow crew members listed below. If anyone could be kind enough to find the photo I have mentioned I would be so grateful. I'd like to be able to show it to my father,Charlies' brother. Lost on the Berlin Campaign, details below. | Comments: Hi, I am the nephew of the gentleman over the circled man's right shoulder. His name is Benjamin Shaw, I have been searching for any details of his time in the war. All I know is that he went to Tuscaloosa to become a pilot and I believe he was stationed at Lossiemouth from October 1942 but he was killed in an accident on the airfield in January 1943 after returning from a 'bombing run' over Germany. I have been unable to find more but upon 'googling' Tuscaloosa 1942 your M104 photo came up. amongst Ben's personal effects I have a few photos, amazingly showing other members of your picture. Once I have turned them into digitals I will send them to you. Kind regards Colin Jacques |
